I allways liked the shape, geometry and price of Planet X track frames but the horrendous retro paint sceme gives eyecancer. The roy de velo frame made me pull the trigger but I had to strip down the ugly paint. I did this on several alloy bikes before but never on carbon. Dangerholm showed me how it works even if he esplicitly saiys to not do it but that's exactly how reversed psychology works. So I dangerholmed the frame, put on some chris king headset and dura-ace crank that were laying around and bent a tubus titanium rack tube to a custom garmin saddle mount. For those that don't know the rules: On the track you can use a device to record your data but you are not allowed to see it while riding. This is why froome doesn't race track... Then I tried to bodge a modern track handlebar with different cutted shimano levers and a lot of mastic but ended up with the fancy made in italy ASHAA handlebar. The 29teeth chainring is freshly cnc'd out of the uk as a late valentines gift and currently is the fastest on the planet because it misses half the teeth. This equals half the friction. Such produkts make the whole industry look pretty stupid and I love it. The wheels are my go to uci approved chinese clincher rims laced by a friend. He used internal nips and even washers. Check how fancy he laced all spokes on the inside of the hubflange. Normaly there is one spoke inside and the next one outside but he managed to lace all of them internal what will save a humongous amount of 17Watts at high enough speed. Clincher cotton tires with latex innertubes are my favourite combination. The feel and ridequality is phenomenal. Seeing the us track team racing on the road tt vittoria corsa speed tires in clinchers and not the track specific pista makes me even more confident that this choice is making up for another double digit watt gain. To go full nerd I hotwaxed the dura-ace 11speed road chain with silca secret blend and used rubberised griptape and shrinktape to keep the 28cm narrow handlebars max aero but still grippy.
