A couple of corrections for your post. J.C. Higgins wasn't "bought out" by Sears. Sears had branded their sporting goods as J.C. Higgins beginning in 1908 (named after a Sears Vice President) and began phasing out the name in 1962. 1963 was the final year their bikes were branded J.C. Higgins, and in 1964 and forward they were simply branded Sears. The Gran Sport J.C. Higgins 10 speeds were built for two years in 1962 and 1963, and in 1964 the head tube badge changed to a round Sears badge and J.C. Higgins branding was removed.
