My winter salt bike. Its rough shape deemed it appropriate for winter duty.
Frame:
Hi-Ten life.
Fork/Headset:
Hi-Ten life.
Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
>Currently a 52/40t. Running 1X for a long time. Thinking of upgrading it to a 46 or 48t.
>Original BB gave up after a hard life. Threads stripped. JB weld held it in place for a year until the crank walked. Now using a threadless BB. Hence the nickname.
Pedals:
Rubber block pedals. Good when wearing leather soles or winter boots.
Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
Suntour 6spd. Nickel plated chain with a patina of motor oil.
Derailleurs/Shifters:
Simplex downtube clamp with Shimano Z shift levers.
Shimano Z RD. 1X6 setup.
Saddle/Seatpost:
It came with the bike. A Schwinn 'cross' seat. Too comfy to upgrade.
Brakes:
Stock alloys from '84. With a mid-grade pad. Works well in rain and snow. Brake levers off a old Schwinn cruiser.
Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Araya 27 alloy with alloy Sansin hub. 27'' kenda tire (or whatever 27'' tires I can find!)
Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Weinmann RM19 alloy wheel. 27'' CST tire (or whatever 27'' tires I can find!)
Accessories:
Rear rack. Full light set. Panniers for grocery duty.
Metal fenders from an old Schwinn cruiser. Painted when the rust comes through.
