1987 Schwinn Traveler

When my back wheel got gummed up, preventing me from coasting, I decided to convert my bike to fixed gear. Since then it's been a long and slow journey of customizing little bits and pieces of it. It's a budget build so it's fairly humble but it gets me from A to B. [UPDATE]: Most of the parts from this got put on my Soma Rush and now this is sitting as a frame waiting to be built back up with original parts some day.

Frame:
23" True Temper T1-4130 chrome-moly double-butted main tubes, forged dropouts with eyelets. Head angle: 72.5, Seat angle: 72.5, Wheelbase: 40.75"

Fork/Headset:
Tange Hi-tensile steel, semi-sloping crown, forged dropouts with eyelets. Tange SE-II headset

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Shimano 600 Crankset (170mm)

Pedals:
Wellgo RO-25 track pedals with Retrogression 2X chrome toe clips and double black leather straps.

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
19T 3/32" Surly Track cog with Formula lockring. 53T Shimano 600 chainring. KMC Z chain.

Handlebars/Stem:
Nitto RB-021 handlebars with 1" threaded SR quill stem. Occasionally Sakae Road Champion drop bars with SR Custom 1" threaded quill stem.

Saddle/Seatpost:
Bontrager Inform RXL saddle - Hollow Ti rails and carbon reinforcement. Delta alloy micro-adjusting 26.6mm seatpost

Brakes:
Dia-Compe DC 500NS alloy side pull, quick release, recessed front bolt. Specialized cross lever.

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Spinergy Rev-X raw carbon fiber 4 spoke. Decals removed. 25C Serfas Seca RS tire in gray.

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Alexrim DA28 700c Rim laced to All City track hub in pewter with DT Swiss Competition double butted (2.0-1.8) silver spokes. All of that wrapped up in a gray 25c Serfas Seca RS tire.

Accessories:
Stainless steel stay protector

More Info:
The color is called Winter Mint. In stock full-roadbike mode it weighed 26 lbs. Now it's down to about 21 lbs. Still heavy :(

How do you like the spinergy?

I've been loving it so far. It's pretty light at 870 grams and very aerodynamic. It's the 4th generation style though so I don't have to worry about the catastrophic failures the other spinergies have had.

Thanks! Sadly she's down to just the frame and fork now. Most the parts went to my Soma. I'll miss this one though :(
