For new adventures where gravel bike can't pass, back to MTB with this monster cross project based on Ritchey 29" lovely frame, 90% second-hand parts, DIY built with a little help (Boost Cycles), few new knowledge for me (actual MTB "standard"!). Built during autumn 2021, 2nd french lockdown. Really light (less than 10kg / 22lbs), crazy machine.

After few years and a long bikepacking trip with a large drop bar, I wanted to try a more classical flat bar for mountain biking. I switched brakes for cable ones (BB7 MTN) and it works great.

Yes, the trip was between the 29th (Ambert, Auvergne region) of october and the 9th of december (Marrakech). My friends ride with his Surly Straggler / Spe Pathfinder 43mm tires, for the road parts his gravel was better but of course, for the worst gravel roads and some MTB singletracks, my setup was really really more adapted. We changed our chain at ~1700km, a bit before crossing the sea between Tarifa and Tanger.
