Current Stage Info:
painted my frame to 'reward' myself for getting through 5 cats of racing on this thing. Added some oil slick decals. Other aspects to bike got worse...after my RD went into my spokes blowing up my hanger and RD.

rad paint job!

it was a rustoleum galaxy blue. If im 100% honest , the paint work isn't great at all.... i messed up the clear and i think the prep work i didn't wasn't spectacular either. Hindsight i would pay someone to do it and bake the frame. I plan to send this frame off to get repainted this summer.

I see, I'm thinking of doing some DIY work on my CAAD as well. did you had to apply a clear coat even after you applied the rustoleum paint?

i did , and i purchased 2 part clear in a can, which i was hoping to be really nice, but i can't make a full evaluation of it for u as i didn't mix it correct when spraying, so the hardener didn't really harden.

with the amount of hours in prep (i probably have 10+ hours before even laying paint)..... and purchasing materials like sandpaper, scuff pads, buffing compound , buffing pads, etc..... the cost for a competent automotive shop to paint the frame is very reasonable.

I bought automotive base coat in a can and 2 part clear and it worked hella well.

16.8lbs was the weight prior to paint. I dunno if i gained or saved on the paint, probably it's the same. That's without the barfly, garmin, speedslev, and framepump.
