Long story short, I own a 1966 mustang that I left back in Venezuela before leaving the country in 2010 due to the living conditions there. And because the country's situation has been exponentially worst every year, the chances of me ever seeing my car again are slim. I moved to Budapest Hungary. here out of necessity (cheap commuting) i got a bicycle and over time i had many more, i slowly got really in to bikes. one of my projects was the mustang theme bike. the idea was to recreate my car back home in bicycle form and combine 2 of my passions in one machine. i had a very limited budget but many good friends. After slowly collecting the parts choosing and modifying the frame this became the first bike i designed and painted myself from zero. because this project happened in 2014 (the 50th anniversary of the Ford mustang) I decided to add a little extra by making it a tribute 50 anniversary mustang bike, the silverblue (Brittany Blue) color is the same as my car, the font of the letters is also the one used in the 1964 to 66 mustang the walnut handlebars are meant to look like the steering wheels of that era, a friend hand wrapped a saddle with leather to match the handlebar, i ordered a mustang pin and converted it in to a head badge, another friend helped with the stickers for masking and with engraving the stem. i signed the frame with the dark blue color of the car i owned at the time here in Hungary to further the connection between my car and bicycle passions and also remind me of the differences in my life here and back home (and to be annoying and add more drama), Almost all parts were preowned, after hand engraving my name in the bottom bracket shell I sprayed the bike with the help of a friend and mentor in the basement where i was working as a bike mechanic. 2 layers of base coat 3 layers of paint and 2 layers of clear coat later i built it and in November 2014 the mustang bike was born! and I managed to keep the whole thing under 350$
