just wondering i really like affinitys new black chrome lo pro but how does it feel with drops? ive heard a few people saying it will be a very uncomfortable ride if i dont go for pursuit bars. i really prefer drops to any other kind of bars
Posted almost 11 years ago
Well it was a stiff frame, being steel. And the angle is pretty sweet. It's pretty uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. Plus it only starts to hurt really at like 10 miles in so it depends in how far you're riding.

I have an Affinity chainring in the mail, I am wondering if I made the right decision? Have you ever ridden an FSA Track Pro Chainring before? Is the Affinity Chainring just as good, what do you think of it? Please helllllp haha
Posted almost 12 years ago
I have zero complaints. It feels strong and light. Of course it's not the lightest chain ring on the market but it's a good value for the money I feel.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Im not worried about it being heavy, in fact thats what I wanted something strong and stiff. Replacing it with the cheap chainring on my Eighthinch Courier Crankset, so regardless it will be an upgrade :). Thanks for the feedback!

I really love your wheels. I want some of those for training. This is a proper low-pro build. Looks nice and thank god you have proper saddle angle. I always see people with this bike and their saddles are angled up or down :( nice!
Posted almost 12 years ago
Thank you! I've loved every minute of these wheels. I've always wanted some Shamals or Reynolds but I'm not making that kind of money haha.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Yea, they can get pretty pricey. I got mine from a friend for less than I would have paid for just the hubs alone! Its really cool that you got clipless pedals. I got mine and have never gone back. If you want to spend some money on shoes, You can go with Bonts or SIDIs or Giro. I ride with Bonts and they are by far the best shoe you can buy hands down. They're unbelievably stiff, and you can get them molded to your feet so that they fit exactly. If your not up to spending lots of money, you can get northwave or some cheep shimano shoes. Good luck finding shoes! :)
Posted almost 12 years ago
Yeah man! I'm excited for clipless. They came with 4.5 degree cleats. My friend rides the streets with 0 degree but wouldnt that make it easier to clip out? When you ride street what would you recommend? I've been looking into mavic shoes and sidi. But the local bike shops around all carry Shimano so I feel like at least then I'd be able to see what I'm buying before the purchase.

Ok, 0 degree doesnt make it easier to clip out. The reason why companies developed cleats with float is because not everyone has a perfect pedal stroke. If you use 0 degree cleats, your feet wont have any room to move around, so if you do not have a perfect pedal stroke, you can do damage to your knees. 4.5 degree float allows your feet to move a little. I use 4.5 and I love it. Another thing, Pedals have a pedal tension adjuster on them. You can adjust it to make it easier, or harder to unclip. I usually run really high tension (hard to unclip). When I go to the track, I use max tension so I never come out. (and when I race, I use straps too) . SIDIs are one of the best shoes. Bont are the best like I said before. My friend has the Mavic shoes and he likes them a lot. Hope this helps

I just figured I was for comfort not for the pedal stroke.. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for all of the advice dude, really. It's helped out a lot! I suppose I'll go look at reviews and super interesting stuff like that. I think I'll probably go mavic. And then sidi in the future. I'll try the 4.5 degree for a while before I decide to try 0. Thanks again!

Everything's on and feels great! dropped 1.5 lbs of the previous set up.

How do you like the Affinity chainring ?
Posted almost 12 years ago
No Complaints. I've climbed some rediculous hills and have ridden about 200 miles with it.
Posted almost 12 years ago
As i've said before this bike is impeccable! but would you mind telling me where and what those allen key hex bolts are? ive been searching for some just like them
Posted almost 12 years ago
They're just what bolts attach into "track hubs." Like aerospokes and a ton others. The hub bolts screw into the hub, vs a nut grabbing the axle.
Posted almost 12 years ago
No prob! And damn,I was hoping they weren't stock with the wheels, they look much cleaner than traditional bolts, happy riding

Your bike looks killer! want to buy my Kalavinka? haha. jus joking. Mavic shoes are good. I buy the older top models. Cheaper that way. and still better then most shoes out there
Posted almost 12 years ago
I wish! That'd be awesome but I've got future plans already. Everyone has said mavic really..so I suppose that's my first option.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Sweet Ride! I'd love to have this nice. Great combination of parts and colors. Enjoy your ride
Posted about 12 years ago
Favorited! This so awesome, that crankset looks good on this. Some gumwalls would look sick either way though you did a great job. Ive heard this is a "back breaker" do you find it comfortable or uncomfortable for long distance? Im really interested in investing in one.
Posted about 12 years ago
It's actually really not as bad as everyone says. I'm very comfortable riding on this frame and I'm in love with the smoothness and sturdiness steel brings. Thanks so much for the compliments and I do have plans for gum walls in the future!
Posted about 12 years ago
+ 1 for the gumwalls and i guess maybe brooks swift will looks good with the bikes too ! cause honestly i dont really think that the fizik kurve snake really fits the bike :) its just my opinion :)
Posted about 12 years ago
One of the best Lo Pro's I've seen man. Well done.
Posted about 12 years ago
Haha right on. Your chain ring is massive! It looks so good.
Posted about 12 years ago
Yeah, I like the look of big rings. People always think it's some crazy ratio, but it's a cozy 75 gear inches!
Posted about 12 years ago
Sweet ! this is the only expection when a Brooks is acceptable !
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks man! I'm hoping to get a San Marco or something else more sleek. I'm exited to keep progressing with this.
Posted about 12 years ago
Really sick! Ive been looking for one of the cranks for a while now, but cant seem to find one. I was thinking of getting the IRD defiant because they look so similar, more on the 75 side.
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks man! I got them from a friend who picked them up at a swap meet. Affinity themselves makes a pretty good looking crank.
Posted about 12 years ago
Very nice pictures and obviously a very clean and beautiful build.
Posted about 12 years ago
Thank you! Your bike's super clean too. It's good to see more quill stems out there.
Posted about 12 years ago
Great choice on the lo pro. I've been staring at these for a while now. I'm super anxious to try a pursuit geo frame.
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks dude! So far I've got nothing but love for this frame.
Posted about 12 years ago
The new saddle looks great! How are you liking it and do you still plan on getting a concor?
Posted about 12 years ago
Yeah I do. This was a trade that I feel I got the better deal on. I'm lurking in the waters of a kashimax aero now too.. But this saddle feels great! There's adjustments of soft and hard and it's really comfortable.
Posted about 12 years ago
dig the setup man! should try fizik microtex bar tape, you might like it, it's on my bob jackson check out my page.
Posted about 12 years ago
not diggin the brooks and lack of bar tape but other than that, damn!
Posted about 12 years ago
Never had an issue with slipping hands. I put the bar tape back on today. I'm hoping it'll protect the bars in case of a fall. Hoping ill learn to love it.
Posted about 12 years ago
Try some cloth bar tape like Newbaum's, I think you'd like it.
Posted about 12 years ago
it looks like a 2 feet drop from you saddle to your drops, has to be uncomfortable. other than that though it looks great, one of the nicest lo-pro's on here. i really like those nitto seatposts, too.
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks! It's actually not that bad. It's a smooth sturdy ride. My arms are just tired at like 5 miles now instead of 15. Who couldnt use an extra work out though right? haha.
Posted about 12 years ago
hey this is cool simple and clean, love it man, btw, size M looks big, is it 55?
Posted about 12 years ago
I have no idea how affinity cycles are sized. I'm 5'11" so I was told to get a M and it seems to fit great. I guess my seat would be bottomed out if I had gotten a large.
Posted about 12 years ago
Loving it!
Posted about 12 years ago
It's Great! Its so smooth and it feels so good to actually have quality products on a bike. Steel is real!
