Cindercone1969 says:
Nice example with original livery & decals... but why assume it's a Bates London when the head & seat tube badges cleary tell you it's from Westcliffe on sea (Southend)?? It has Nervex lugs, no frame chromed stays or fork blades, head-tube chrome etc. & couldn't be earlier than 1954.
Horace relocated to Southend Essex in 1954.
Milremo or Primo stem is questionable as original, as it would usually have a GB stem or a Bates made faux lug stem fitted, but maybe it was added later on. However it's a good original example to enjoy. Don't paint it as you'll lose it's originality & charm! Highly prized cycle...Best regards SX.
