i wonder if this is the same frame http://velospace.org/node/2220

They look similar, but judging by numbers ungraved a the seattube's top, mine has been build in september 1983. I looked at vintage Bianchi brochures and on these frame built between 1981 and 1984 look very close.

Clearly not the same frame. The VS one has polished seatstay caps, while this one has painted caps. Also, tubing decal placement is different, and neither of them look like a re-paint job.

By the number, I would think it was an 83, with the first number before the decimal being indicative of the manufacturing year. That's what my research into my own has led me to believe in reference to serial #'s. Sure looks like an 83:

But it looks like the seat stay caps should be polished. Also, very odd placement of the Piaggio decal. It's all a crapshoot I guess. Nice ride.

Thanks for those informations. I'll try to get confirmed. Don't worry the seat stay caps and the seat post had been polished since.

this looks like an '81. I know this because after 1981, bianchi changed their decal sets to a darker blue without the dash marks in the b and i. also, there should be a gold decal at the bottom of the seat tube, stating its manufacture date. unless it was removed. really nice bianchi nonetheless!

I think it's a 1981 check this one out. The only difference is the headtube decal.
