Last year I picked up a neglected and resprayed RB-1 frameset with a gorgeous biplane fork for a decent price. Over the pandemic, I collected parts I thought made sense - not following the specs but trying to adhere to the philosophy that made these bikes workhorse racers back in the day. I finally built it up, applied new decals, ran cables, taped up the bars and went for a longish ride with my buddy today. Still lots to tweak but man, did it ever feel good to ride this thing. There is something about Ishiwata tubing that feels different from other steel, if that makes sense to any of you out there... just a feeling though.
