I wish they made the cluster fork with disc brake mounts for this reason!

Posted over 8 years ago

tnts

tnts says:

That would be great. they did only with cantilevers last time. I've been thinking about welding mount to my OG fork.

it was really nice to play polo after a long break anyhow.

Still fresh, +1 on the disc. But a shame not to run the OG forks. Ever thought of having disc tabs brazed on?

I have been planning to put post mounts on the OG, but would need professional help for that.

hi , so i see you have tried both 520 and XT, according to you , which one would you recommend for fixed gear?
Regards

tnts

tnts says:

At first i had 520 in this but they were rubbish. Bearings died in first month. Xt's are way better, but i have been riding 520's for year in my other bikes. These were just an unlucky pair.

Really dope setup! CXtires and still such a lot of clearance!
What ratio do you run? I tried my sscx in fixed mode but could't find a gear that would be rideable offroad while not making me really slow on tarmac.

tnts says:

Now it runs 47/19 which is ok for commuting. For snowier paths I'm going for 20t in the rear. I'm not riding cx or trails with this.

Thanks for the advice! Thats pretty much the same compromise I came up with in the end (used 40/16 sprockets though). Guess I`ll just have to learn to spin it even harder, when on the road :D
Cheers!

Yeah. These 35c Kenda's measure 32 mm width. The bars are 64 cm wide. Nice control on the snowy and icy terrains.
