Building this bike over a period of about 6 months as my budget allows and great deals can be had. Mostly used parts other than rings, chain, and tires. I wanted to take my favorite frame, the Ironman, and build it up in such a way that I get the modern performance I want and need to compete in the occasional triathlon or just for fun on group rides. I'm trying out a set of DOVAL chainrings, a low cost alternative to Rotor Q-rings or osymmetric. The whole thing is coming together better than I expected when I started this adventure and I can't wait to get some miles on it. Total budget <$1000

Hmm. I'm not sure if I agree with the fork. I never liked biopace so I might be biased towards the rings. but everything else doesn't look too bad.

the fork was a steal at $102 on ebay. I love it and it totally fits the bike.

also the rings have more in common with rotor and osymmetric than biopace

let me know how you like those rings! been looking for alternatives to rotor.
