Thanks. Appreciate the input. One source says the DLX ceased production in 1986, but that doesn't jive with the branding graphics. 89 would match the graphics of the other models. Mike

That is a sweet ride, love the color scheme & dig the Retroshifters. I agonized over installing them on my bike but really wanted an indexed FD, so went with the MS R9. I originally built this as a 'buddy bike' but have more miles on the DLX than any other bike this year.

I really like them for both reliability and value. These are my second set. I would place them in the Sora/ Tiagra class, though Shimano's finish is a little nicer. No shift indicators, but that is not a big deal for me. Shifting is exact and not as subtle as the aforementioned but that is not a bad thing. The dual button set up is intuitive and prefer them to the Shimano set up. Mike
