I purchased this beloved frameset new in 2004, which was coincidentally just in time to built it with the last of the classic design 7700 Dura-Ace components. I have changed a few things better to my liking over the years, but the core set-up is the same, including the wheelset, (updated this winter with 2011 logos which match the frame decor far better). All 10,000 miles I have ridden on this bike are on these wheels. As far as how this frameset rides?, I would say the most notable of its many admirable qualities is that you seemingly don't have to physically steer the bike. You think where you want to be, and that is where you go, as if it were directly connected to your brain and muscles.

Many thanks for the compliment. It IS fast, rocket fast...well, as rocket fast as 52 year old legs that only have a chance to ride 3 days a week can propel it...

The focus on my initial full side view image was off, so please stay tuned for one in future...and of course, many thanks for the appreciative comment.

hey -- is this color-code NL38 or PR38? i'm getting hits for both and i think the NL might be the Mapei-specific version for Oscar Friere with PR38 being the follow-on more generic world-champion versions.
not 100% sure, though...

Colnago introduced the PR decor series in the same year as the C50, but this decor is NL38, (as indicated on the product info materials I've kept, including my receipt).
It doesn't discuss decor codes, but while on the subject, I thought you might find this interesting -
