Haha, that picture with a CETMA on it is so strange-looking.
Fucking awesome, ratty, beautiful, beat-on piece of history.

You sure it's an '81? I didn't think they started stamping the chainstay until 84-86. Still a sweet beater.

Whether it's a nice bike or not is irrelevant when I consider a beater. If it's got definite battle scars and usage, and the current owner rides it as such, then it's a beater. Now is it a bike worthy of restoration and polish? Most def. But until/unless that happens, the bike is a beater. A beater with true quality, craftsmanship and heritage behind it. But a beater nonetheless.

Hmmm, well i think the owner decides if the bike is a "beater". He may only ride this every once and while and doesnt want to restore it because he likes it the way it is. Some people dont like the polished and new look to their bike. Its like how a majority of people like buying vintage and antique stuff, you want the wear on it. I get what your saying but at this same time i think a beater is a bike you beat the shit out of and you personally dont care what happends to it, I dont think that guy feels that way about this beauty.

a beater is a bike that is beat. whatever you consider to be a beater is your thing, say it in a personal setting or about your own possessions. but by definition of the word "beater", which by my understanding is a bike that is "beat" to sh*t. this is far from it. this is a bike with some history and petina that deserves nothing less than respect and praise. btw idk where you live, but saying something is a beater is an insult to the owner and it totally does have something to do with whether it's a nice bike or not. just droppin you a line @stalag13

Well Jethro, you don't live where I live. Where I live, a beater is an everyday lock-up bike, which this certainly looks like to me. And, I've lived and gone to school where you live, and it didn't carry negative connotations when I was there. Just because it's Colnago doesn't mean it can't be a beater.

Yup...there goes a perfectly good pair of pants. You ought to issue a warning that before viewing this bike one might want to remove one's pants first.... now I'm sleepy.

Don't change a thing! It looks unbelievable good with the little paint chips and small amounts of surface rust. Definitely one of the best looking bikes I've ever seen.
