Got this cracked in the seatpost clamp, no surprise, but then made it better :)

I just got a PC couple days ago, almost brand new. I am aware for years that the PC’s are common for this issue. Besides replacing the integrated with an external seat collar, how would you prevent the crank from spreading? Or the crack mainly sourced from the old integrated collar? Thanks in adavance

I had a very very tiny hole drilled at the bottom of the crack to prevent the crack from growing, then sanded down to fit a 31.8 external clamp.
