Did you drill that Alpina by yourself? I assume it didn't come with a hole for brake..?

I asked Dolan if they would do it. Unfortunately they wouldn't, but they told me it was possible. So I decided to do it myself. Turns out it was quite easy, actually. Same procedure as with a regular steel fork. Put clear tape on the fork where you need to drill, mark the holes, tighten fork securely and drill steady and slowly. Make sure to use (new) quality drills. For some reason the fork has a build in screw placed in the crown right where you need to drill. But just go ahead and drill right in to it - it will fall out. Good luck :)

Very nice! That is a carbon fork, right? But the piece to be drilled is made of aluminum? Anyways, the fact that it can be done was very helpful. Cheers!

Hey! Got my frameset couple of weeks ago and then decided to drill the alpina for a brake. It really was an super easy task. All it took was 8mm drill bit and some caution. Fork actually comes with a threaded rod screwed in the place where you wanna drill the holes, you just need to drill it off again. There is over 1 cm solid bulk of aluminum on each side of the steerer crown so durability is not really an issue. Of course I could have ordered a fork with pre drilled hole for a brake (the dolan one) but I really like the aesthetics of the alpina fork. Just though to keep you all posted.

I agree go with the black omniums the stealth look woukd be really nice if u ask me. I dont kike all black bikes with silver cranks. Plus its bot a downgrade if ur keeping the cranks for anogher build.

no no no. everybody has blacked out bikes. dont be a tool, keep these

Just because everyone has one of something doesnt mean it's dumb. BUT down grading to Omniums from a campagnolo crankset would be stupid. Dont listen to kids who have GIANT carbon wheels and aerospokes on their bikes.

How do brakes work if you only have 1 front brake? What does the other lever do?

It just provides a place to have the the hand while riding in the "hoods position". But it doesn't brake obviously.
