I attempted to build the cheapest bike possible with available resources in a short amount of time with certain specifications, wheel strength, and (mostly) decent quality components.
Frame:
1983 Sanwa Landrover (Nishiki Bushwacker? - Dodsun/Norco made). Tange double-butted chromoly. Cold-set dropouts to 126mm from 130mm. Dremeled off the derailleur hanger then sanded and rattlecanned.
Fork/Headset:
Vintage 26" aluminum fork with steel steerer.
Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Origin8 130mm BCD / Shimano UN-26
Pedals:
1980s Victor bear traps with Retrospec velcro foot retention.
Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
Avenir 17T cog / 46T Origin8 chainring / KMC Z410 1/8" chain
Derailleurs/Shifters:
N/A
Saddle/Seatpost:
something from a dumpster / 26mm vintage Kalloy
Brakes:
generic road brakes from ebay, Tektro RL720 levers
Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
700c Alex AP18 / generic hub / Ritchey Speedmax Cross 35c
Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
700c Velocity Chukker laced with SS Wheelsmith spokes / All-City flip-flop 36H 120mm hub with spacers / Ritchey Speedmax Cross 35c
Accessories:
In the future: a Wisecracker headset spacer for lulz.
More Info:
Dumpster dove, eBayed, Amazoned. I knew nothing about bikes before I endeavored to build this. Net cost under $100. Built for rough street/gravel and all-season use.

Do the brake mounts still work, considering the wheel-sizing change? Looks fun & reliable! Wish my Univega had canti-mounts.

They possibly could, but not with the brakes that came on the bike. They're a bit too short.
Definitely fun and reliable!
