christ on the cross this frame is beautiful and you are one lucky duck for possessing it but it deserves to be built up to it's former glory not as a conversion *face palm*

Hi, I think about selling the frameset. It has a brand new Campagnolo Record headset. Feel free to make an offer!

I've been down this road before, but my steel frame was in much worse shape then your beautiful Merckx. Remember: front der hanger, rear der hanger, der cable guides and those mounting points for the shift levers are WELDED onto your frame. Your will never get it as clean as a real track frame, and at some point it will annoy you. Get the gears or prepare for some visual unclarities.

I know, that it will never be as clean as a track bike, but I wanna see, where this project will take me and how I can build my personal bike, which will be made for cycling.

"Singlespeed race bike" is an oxymoron. Please build this up with gears like it deserves to be.

So this will be a fixed gear build? I would buy a track frame and use those wheels on that. Fixed gear + horizontal dropouts = asking for trouble, even more so if you plan to skid stop (I don't see any brakes listed in the build). But hey, in the end, it's your bike!

At the end, I love that frame and you will see the result in a few weeks :-)
But you are right, that I am looking for an Eddy Merckx Pista frame, but it's really hard to find!
But this is the great thing with projects. You will never know where it takes you!
