The overlap is nothing compared to the LOW. haha. You just get used to it and eventually time for it. And I don't even concern myself with pedal strike.

They're very similar. In regards to weight, they're its very close (i think the open pro / phil wood is slightly lighter). I feel like the open pro / phil is smoother too. It comes down to whether you prefer a deeper profile rim or a box section.
