i'd match the wheels one way or the other. and some reasonable handlebars besides those funny straight ones.
I suggest some open pros with formula hubs and maybe some reasonable cheap ergo drops would look nice.
definitely a nicer saddle and seat post (saddle is all your preference, i've had a lot of luck with selle italia)

the crankset is awesome and i wouldn't change the pedals unless you just want to because those are all preference too.

Yeah I was planning on ergo drops, a carbon fork, and a complete threadless conversion. Got too lazy to do that so i sold it and kept the crankset.
Tight kilo dude!

Metal cages, new stem/bars + the below and it would be great.

Got a 120mm 3ttt (3t?) stem coming in the mail! Still looking at bars though!
Personal experiences with metal cages make me not want to get them. I may convert back to them though. Thanks!

Sadly, the quill size was too small for my headset. This makes me want to convert my headset to threadless.

I like plastic cages too. When you're cornering and they scrape the ground, they just kjnda slide accross the ground. works out real well.

I really like the look of Fizik Ariones. My friend has one and claims it's comfy. I may get one. As for a new seatpost, should I get carbon fiber or aluminum? Thanks for the suggestion!

no no no, everybody has thomson (even me). but this is especially ture with gt gtb's. find something else that is cool, but not already done. also, ariones are good. a lot of people like them. you can usually find a bike shop with some arione test saddles. brooks would be cool too. not many people with gt gtb's and brooks.

nice gtb! I look forward to the changes you make to it! I recently just snagged an almost nos gt pulse, and I'm super excited to ride it and make it my own.
I suggest building it up as a classic track build, given its older feel. DA hubs to TB14s, nitto stem, turbo saddle perhaps - all that jazz.
What size is this btw?

If only I found a pulse in my bike!
Being a broke high school student sucks. Hopefully I'll be getting a job soon.
I'm actually not sure about the size. It measures like 57cm C-T. I'll send you pictures of some measurements.
