This machine is a vivid specimen of the soviet bicycle production. Alongside with other soviet common bicycles like "Sputnik" or "Tourist", "Start-Shosse" series was manufactured in Kharkiv, USSR and was one of the most mass-produced product of that period. Despite being manufactured in the late 80s, technology-wise all components remained copied from the early 70s road-bike era. Starting from the Perestroika period (the late 80s) the manufacture quality of such bicycles would go down the hill and as a result many batches had poor quality assembly and control. Nowadays, Start-Shosse road bikes are very popular among common people and still are being used as old and faithful vehicles. There are always lots of spare components for these bikes on flea markets. You can find them there in abundance at a low prise.
