sweet build. how do you like thos cranks? i am trying to get my hands on some.

Thanks. What can I say about it: cheap taiwanese external bearing cranks. I broke the bolthead of the fixing bolt once. Some people writes on lfgss's forum that it gets lost after the first ride (the same about stock bottom brakcet). But I haven't any problems at the moment.

Very fine parts. I went to Petrograd in 1994, they were still using Soviet stamps for the passports. Winters were really cold back then.

Hah, many things have changed still that time (including winters)

Lovely build! And with that frame-size, I bet you feel comfy enough using a 420mm B123AA. Always wanted those wide-B123AA.
Posted almost 11 years ago
the wideness on the bars depends on the wideness of your shoulders. i see no correlation between geometry and the bar
Posted almost 11 years ago
Yeah, I feel more comfortable with this bars more than with 400 mm, especially on top position.

Trackbar. But now it is cold and dirty therefore i solved to mount riser.

And called The City (translate for La Ville). Little strange name for track bike, isn't it?)

That's Max Laville's creation.
He is located in France in a town called Le Bouscat (on the outskirt of Bordeaux) and he was running a Peugeot dealership.

Great, thak you very much! Where can I find more informatin aout him?
Posted over 10 years ago
he still organize a couple of races here in town. He was also a local sponsor for the Le Bouscat Cycling team and he had his name on the team's jersey.

You sure it's French? BSA threaded bb shell and 27.2 seatpost don't sound very French for the time period.
Posted almost 11 years ago
Actually not sure. I know that It was bouth at ebay seller from France.
Posted almost 11 years ago
If it was actually a custom made frame, all bets are off. But I'd place money on this not being French.
Posted almost 11 years ago
Yes, they have similarities. Differences in seat stays (they like on Gitane road bike) and seat post diameter (as far as I know Gitanes has25,8, 26.4 or 26.6 seatposts). I think I need to do more lugs photos.
Posted almost 11 years ago
Can you actually see Nervex details in these photos? I sure can't. Also, Nervex is not a French thing. Bikes from all parts of Europe used Nervex lugs.
Posted almost 11 years ago
I have absolutely the same frame. But Vitus 980 tubes. Nervex lugs and Campagnolo dropouts. So obvious to me that this French frame. I think that I'm not mistaken.
Posted almost 11 years ago
Those aren't Nervex lugs, and even if they were that's not an inidicator of it being French. Bikes that came out of every nation in the EU used Campy dropouts. 27.2 seat post and BSA bb shell are not French. Maybe made for a French brand, but not by a French builder. islander66, do some more research on your bike. British threading on a vintage French bike frame makes no sense. There's not anything on here that says this is a French frame except for the decal, but there's a lot of structural differences that point to to this not being French frame.

How do you like those OnOne External Bearings crankset? 'cause I'm also interested on buying them ;)

Sram Omnium ;)
