Cycling legends Alfredo Binda, Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi won numerous important races upon Legnanos. Six World Titles, 15 editions of the Giro d'Italia, 2 Tours de France and dozens of significant races were won on Legnanos. In 1942 Coppi set the World Hour Record on a Legnano. Ercole Baldini won the Olympic gold medal in the road race at the 1956 Melbourne games and broke Coppi's Hour Record upon a Legnano. The top Legnano model of the 1930s-early 1950's was the Tipo Roma, and to commemorate Baldini's 1956 Olympic gold medal, the model name was changed to Roma Olimpiade.
