Why motolite on the front? Fork canti posts too narrow for the neo retros?

The original idea was to swap everything I could from my Lynskey SSCX onto this frame. It had motolites front and back. On this frame the rear derailleur cable runs down the right seat stay and the Motolite was hitting the cable guide so I had to buy a cantilever. The funny thing is the front wheel, front brake, and rear rim are all that remains from my the old bike.

Whatever works! Do the Motolites function well? Going to buy a set for my narrow post 80s commuter

Honestly things would have been a lot easier if I had the minimotos on there as they and the cantis are both short pull as opposed the the motolites which are long pull. Luckily for me, gevenalle had one set of discontinued levers that work for both sitting in a display case that they kindly sold to me.
