This project was a complete rework of a used $130 Motobecane Track in working order but in an undesirable shade of blue. The only original parts remaining are the frame and the headset. All other parts were scrapped. This bike started as 22-23 pounds, it is 17.5 pounds as shown. I have no idea what I spent on this five month long project. I built the wheelset for this bike as I could not find a reasonably priced pre-built wheelset without tipping the scale at 2kg or more. I chose not to use tubulars only so I could use some of my leftover Atom comp tires. I could have saved another 200 grams by going with tubulars, perhaps the next wheelset will be just that. I built this bike because I like the minimalism of single speed and track bikes. I wanted something steel just to be different from my road bikes of aluminum and carbon.
