i feel like the fast gear should be going forward and the slow gear should be when you pedal backwards. i'm so intrigued by this and am glad you're posting. new/old things all the time.

Just speculating, but I'm guessing the lower gear is forward for climbing purposes, I hear climbing while pedaling backward is super hard.

It's a bit of an art to peddle backwards when going up hill + old bikes from early 1900's had very laid back seat tubes making it easier.

Nice! Very cool to see one of these systems on a rideable bike (properly built at that). I hear learning to pedal backwards while going forward is tricky, what say you?

No its really easy to peddle backwards, try it on a fixed gym bike.
