Converted my Dad’s old 1987 Schwinn World. It was a frame that I felt attached to as I remember my Dad taking me and my brothers on family bike rides. Hence I felt it was a worthy candidate for upgrading to a fixed gear/single speed for my 2 mile commute to work. It was once a Schwinn World but I have now had it sandblasted and repainted black. I have used Schwinn World Sport Decals from the better Schwinn World model which were obtained from bicyclebones.com – these were hard to come by but eBay and hours of searching the net paid dividends. So the bike is really now pretending to be something it isn’t – a better model. At least it now looks better, has a bit more steet cred and has no rust on it! The brakes needed to be nutted instead of recessed nutted brakes as the holes in the frame only allowed nutted brake calipers.
