i would go for wider drop/road bars. the horizontal tops are still comfy enough for commuting and the drops are useful if you're going to tuck yourself in an aero position..
i don't know. but, Langster and Allez were built from the same DNA of a race bike.. the difference is that they drop the BB at 55mm on the Langster, making it Velodrome ready.. for me, it feels kinda weird to see them with risers

change my mind.. carbon steering (stem + handlebar) and a nice carbon seatpost would be my next upgrade.. and I think I'll stay with flat bar.. it's lighter & more comfortable.
btw you're right about Langster-Allez platform sharing, their frame-geometry are pretty similar.. 'under $1000 road bike' typical :)

yup, for a commuter, risers and flats are the best choices between looks and feels.. mustache bars are more comfy, but looks weird on a modern frame like Langster
i did use a riser on my previous beater.. i could go 100km ride no-stop..
replaced them with drops because i mainly do short-but-fast paced-commuting these days..
