I wanted a geared bike with upright bars because I wasn't sure about putting a baby seat on a brakeless fixed gear bike. Turns out my wife's hardtail mtb is way better suited for the baby seat so now I have an awesome geared daily driver (and somewhat period correct) and my knees love me again.

Thanks! Actually she's only 2 inches shorter than I so we can just switch bikes after some minor adjustments if we want to.
