Tell Paypal what has happened.
What a sleez
When PayPal puts your money on hold due to buyer opening a case - fill up your negative balance with a credit card. Ideally Amex or other premium card.
If situation is such that buyer scams you and PayPal sides with them, you have some good chance that Amex will cover your loss i.e. refund charge from card, once you dispute transaction and provide some good support.

That’s a great idea! Payment is still on hold and is being reviewed by PayPal but in case that does not follow through, I’ll try that. Thanks!
I don't understand people who do this when they usually send their home address to the person they ripped off.
