The story told to me is that this Pinarello Paris FP with aluminum tube series 7005 was used in the 1998 season by the cyclist Abraham Olano of Team Banesto. This year was marked by EPO doping scandals, which left the Tour de France of that year known as the "Tour de Dopage". Festina, Telekom and Kelme were the ones who got the dirtiest names.
Banesto, after the fame guaranteed by "Miguelón" in previous years, had in Olano a great cyclist to pass the torch. After being world champion in 1995 (with the help of Indurain) and being in 4th place in the 1997 Tour, Olano repeated the World Championship in 1998 and besides participating in the main races of the year, won the Vuelta a España on top of that same bike.
At the end of that year, the bike was raffled by Banesto Bank on a promotion in Madrid and the winner of the bike kept it for a few years.
After a while, the winner sold it to a third party who was riding at weekends and who lives in Girona (a cycling enclave near Barcelona, where many professional cyclists have been training at some point).
As the guy did not like much to advertise the Banesto, the bike was painted (the funny thing is that although the painting is well done, it seems that the original painting was not blasted before they did the service. In the photos, but with the naked eye, it is possible to see the Banesto logo underneath the painting in the vertical tube.
In addition to the tab with eyelet to place the rider's number on the frame (exclusive feature of bicycles used by professionals), what caught my attention was the assembly of the wheels (Campagnolo Record Titanium hubs with flat spokes and radial rooting in the front and the rear wheel with radial routing on the left side and the welded crosses on the right side). The tubular rims are the legendary Campagnolo Barcelona 92 with new Continental Giro tubular tires. The group is running like a clockwork. The frame is a 55x55 (center to center), without forgetting that the geometry of these frames deceives and would be what today we consider a size "G" for cyclists with more of 1.75m. The stem is an ITM Goccia neatly made for professionals, with its 15cm in length, the handlebar is an ITM Mantis Ergal 7075, the seatpost is campagnolo and the saddle is an Iscaselle Tornado.
The bike is perfect. No dents, 2 minor almost invisible scratches (one in top tube and another in the fork). Price: €2250.
