Those TK2s look hot and they boast some excellent carbon. How's the quality of those frames? Strength? Stiffness?
Posted almost 11 years ago
Its great with everything. Stiff and light....much lighter than my tk1...but not even close to the stiffness.
Posted over 10 years ago
Sweet setup
Posted about 11 years ago
Thanks man! It's changed some since I took these pictures though :)
Posted about 11 years ago
I know I am so late, but what year is this TK2? The colorway on the frame is so tight.
Posted about 11 years ago
Late on what? lol. Its the 2008 TK2. and I agree, it is my favorite :)
Posted about 11 years ago
Does the seat hurt your ass ?
Posted over 11 years ago
Not at all. the track is smooth, and I have really nice bibs, with a nice chamois. :)
Posted over 11 years ago
This bike is so awesome that it pisses me off. How does the FSA SLK seat post feel when riding?
Posted over 11 years ago
It feels great. It's pretty light, and stiff. Not to bad for track use! :)
Posted over 11 years ago
I know some people who use SLK components on road bikes, but I was not sure if it would be strong enough for track use. But it's good to know now.
Posted over 11 years ago
kewl helmet. and byke.
Posted over 11 years ago
Thanks dude! It rides amazing, I couldn't ask for more.... OR could I????(TK1?) lol
Posted over 11 years ago
Were you riding down Westminster to pch last week? I saw a group of guys on track bikes decked out in cycling kits which I don't see too often lol
Posted over 11 years ago
Most likely that was me yea. If you ever see a bright green helmet like in this picture: Photohttp://www.pedalroom.com/bike/felt-tk2-...
It's me. I ride all over SoCal! :)
Posted over 11 years ago
Favorite tk2 !
Posted over 11 years ago
Thanks dude! I will be really pleased with it once I get a longer stem, and REAL pictures. :)
Posted over 11 years ago
What stem where you thinking of getting ? & yes some nice pictures would be nice !
Posted over 11 years ago
I'm probably going to just get a Deda Zero 100 stem. 120mm in length.
Posted over 11 years ago
Very nice felt good sir. We should hit up Carson after I get certified.
Posted over 11 years ago
Sounds like a plan dude! Carson is defiantly my favorite place to train! :)
Posted over 11 years ago
This bike is amazing! Why isn't it on the featured page yet??
Posted almost 12 years ago
nice wheelset :D
Posted almost 12 years ago
Thanks man. Its really really light, even though they are laced to heavy phil woods lol.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Dude, I rode today, it sucked...
Posted almost 12 years ago
Why you no invite me? Well, there's no way I could have made it down there anyways. :/
Posted almost 12 years ago
I'm gonna get full 3T LTD cockpit and 3T Scatto. And a light chain and lighter chainring :)
Posted almost 12 years ago
What are the grams on everything you're getting? And your chainring is already pretty light! You should get a lighter saddle!
Posted almost 12 years ago
And dude, the Scattos are probably the heaviest bars you'll ever own!
Posted almost 12 years ago
Go road drops if you're going for light. They'll always be lighter and stiff enough to put down a good sprint. Plus, they're just so much more ergonomic.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Yea, I don't know. I have 3T ergosum team and they flex a lot when I'm climbing/sprinting. I think I will just stick to my Deda's because they are relatively light and they give me the correct amount of drop I like for riding the track. I like getting aero. Also, I have a thing with people who put road bars on track bikes. It annoys me alot.
Posted almost 12 years ago
It's a lot about personal preference. Does it annoy you when people ride track bikes on the road since they're not road bikes? I understand though. I run track drops on the track and road drops on the road.
Posted almost 12 years ago
It only bothers me if the person riding they track bike on the street either is slow, or has never ridden their bike on the track.
Posted almost 12 years ago
gnarly
Posted almost 12 years ago
hahah, well we will see how it looks, I need to find a black 51t Sugnio Zen chainring to go with the ominums that are going on it.
Posted almost 12 years ago
sram omnomnoms + zen = oh lawdy! *faints from intense arousal from the crankset *
is this gonna be a street tk2?
Posted almost 12 years ago
yea dude, it will be my street TK2. You have seen my crank set up on this TK2 right? Super gnar lol
Posted almost 12 years ago
honeslty, I don't know how the new TK2 is going to turn out haha. might be a Frankenstein bike for awhile.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Take your time with it
Build it with lots of love and cool stuff like that
Posted almost 12 years ago
That's great to hear!
It took me a while to get it where it is now
Posted almost 12 years ago
The Deda bars... Nice labels hehehe : D
Posted almost 12 years ago
Hahaha I know right? What the heck deda? Making crap bars like that....
Posted almost 12 years ago
How does it ride?
Posted about 12 years ago
Well, In my opinion, it's one of the best track bikes you can buy for a reasonable price. It's pretty stiff and it's incredibly light for being a 58cm frame, 1 pound chain and super heavy seat post. It's really responsive and doesn't flex at all. Feels like a Cervelo T1 because of how stiff it is. That's my $0.10!
Posted about 12 years ago
GOD DAMN that clearance is tighter than a cunt glued together
Posted about 12 years ago
Hahahaha! Well put. Yea it's pretty tight. But I have to change it. Apparently there are some rules at the track where you have to have credit card clearance. And the only way I can get my wheel off is by breaking the chain. So it sucks changing gears at the track.
Posted about 12 years ago
love the build :)
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks dude! We will see how good it really is when I race this Saturday! :)
Posted about 12 years ago
I love felt bikes.
Posted about 12 years ago
Thanks, me to! I think they are defiantly one of the highest quality bike company's on the market. :]
Posted about 12 years ago
They're pretty good on price.. but their road bikes are pretty heavy compared to their competitors'. Loving the build though, nothing but quality on this machine!
Posted about 12 years ago
I don't think they are that heavy? and let's be realistic here. weight isn't a huge factor for most riders. Just because someone has a Pinarello Dogma, doesn't mean they are going to be faster than someone who has a 18lbs Felt F95 like I do. I drop people all the time on my $1000 road bike. And Felt does make bikes that are quite light. the F1 is almost 13 pounds. That's a pretty light road bike in my opinion.
Posted about 12 years ago
What I'm saying is that in comparison to other brands, like specialized, trek, etc. they're relatively heavy on the lower priced road bikes. Weight can be a pretty big factor on climbs also. Not so much a factor on track bikes where there's a controlled environment and stiffness is king, but on road racing a hill climb can make a huge impact. The F1 is 14 lbs btw.. it is a very light frame though.
Posted about 12 years ago
I did say almost 13 pounds, implying that it was not 13 pounds but almost. :) and if their lower end bikes are heavy, so what? I mean, its not that big of a deal if a bike is heavy at a lower cost. You can always upgrade to make it lighter. My friend has the same bike as me and its 16 pounds. Its the lowest end felt you can buy, and for only spending $900 on it, its a bike that can certainly have potential.
Posted about 12 years ago
It doesn't matter really since mice races, have a minimum weight reqrirement, usually 15bls. Plus if you ride carbon road bikes then you know as you get into high speeds, the linear rigidityvgets shaky, and you be glad your bike is 17-19lbs versus 13lbs, been there done that, and wind at that speed get quite scary, so unless you got the team to personally design your bike fight down to the frame construction being built specifically for you... You're going down or your reason kicks in and you slow down. Also main reason felt bike tend to be a couple pukes heVier is thY up till 2011, they strickly used shimano components, unless you specifically requested sram or campy from your LBS. Now they use oth sram & Shimano... So that's a factor to keep in mind.
Posted about 12 years ago
but its not almost 13 pounds -_- its almost 14 pounds. weighing in at 14.01
over 1 pound difference is definitely not "almost"
and to get a bike like that to reach a much lighter weight you have to spend oh so much more money.. its just worth getting the more expensive but more quality bike. imo its like getting a retrospec then slapping on high end track parts onto it. you'll never get the high end performance from high end road components if you have a frame that isn't on par with everything else.
the shakiness is true on lower end carbon bikes.. but that all varies on how stiff your ride is and what setup you're using. carbon is stiff where it needs to be and when the price increases on those bikes, its stiffer and lighter where it needs to be.
with that being said, felt gives good bang for the buck, but remember that you get what you pay for. such as the fact that the f85 frame doesn't have a bb30 shell so it will NEVER be able to get the on par weight, durability, stiffness, and q factor that you would get on a frame that does have a bb30 shell... like the slightly higher end f75.
Posted about 12 years ago
Ok, I really could care less how much their bikes weight. And if you're so concerned about how much a bike weighs then obviously you shouldn't buy a felt.
And honestly, I have put high end track parts on a cheep frame and I never complained about it except the fact that the frame was ugly as fuck.
An about the bottom bracket, I don't really care about the while BB30 stuff. I'm not going to try and put Rotor 3D Cranks on my F95 lol.
I really don't feel like arguing about bikes. I know what I'm doing when it comes to training and riding hard. I know who fast or slow I may be. So please don't comment about how the lower end felt road bikes suck. Because I like them. So yea. :]
Posted about 12 years ago
Sounds like Jdawg4334 is hatin'! Great set up man. +1 for the Reynolds.
Posted about 12 years ago
thanks dude! yea, he always makes fun of my bike haha. no big deal, we are good friends. and I love the Reynolds :D
Posted about 12 years ago
Makes my bike even more unique? They're Deda Pista drops... Probably one of the most common track drop bars there is.
Posted about 12 years ago
But the print is upsidedown jonnnnyyyy! It makes it's a little different than others ;)
Posted about 12 years ago
Niiiiiiiiiiceeeeeeeeee
Posted about 12 years ago
thanks dude. kinda trying to fix a problem with the front tire. kinda hard when you have noooo money haha.
Posted about 12 years ago
Holy crap, i was talking with Ericko and I was asking him who does he rides with and its you! I've been trying to find out who this bike belongs to for a long ass time.
Posted over 12 years ago
Holy hell what a wheelset! And how tall are you?
Posted over 12 years ago
as of now I'm currently 6'1, but my dad is 6'7 so I will out grow this bike in a few years :(

Thanks dude! It runs really well on the track. Its taking a beating haha!
Posted over 12 years ago
THOMAS!!!! Super sick build, I dig the purple deepV, an the zipp is super siiiiick. We gotta all ride soon man!! :]
Posted over 12 years ago
Well, when I first got this bike, the only wheel I had was a purple velocity deep v. Took those pictures off. And now I have the Reynolds.
Posted about 12 years ago
Hey dude, Its Mat!! I hope you remember me...Me you and Jon rode once. Anyway SUPER SICK BIKE!! :DDDD and I'll see you on the ride today :]
Posted over 12 years ago
Damn dude! Way to step up the game from your Micargi! Hahaha.
Thomson setback... Model V... FC-7710s... Jeez dude, I wasn't expecting this!
It looks great!
Let's ride this weekend fool!
And dude, are you serious? Shimono? And are you seriously going to ride with your stem like that? Haha!
Posted over 12 years ago
ok, so I spelled a word wrong. jeez. and yes, I do ride with my stem like that because its better for my back (I have scoliosis) so my back gets tired very fast. Thanks for all the compliments Jon!!
Posted over 12 years ago
Well, at least that's better than riding with your saddle at a 45 degree angle.
And yea dude! The bike looks really good!
Posted over 12 years ago
You need a rear zipp.
Maybe your friend shouldnt be sticking his fingers in your drivechain lol ouch
Posted over 12 years ago
I know, but there freekin expensive. and yea well hes a professional mechanic and he was testing the chain tension when his finger got sucked into the chainring. :(
Posted over 12 years ago
or get those unbranded eBay carbon rims and zipp decals ;)
That experience must be pretty terrifying. Now your bike has someone elses blood sweat and tears
Posted over 12 years ago
haha I wasn't there to witness it luckily. and I never buy carbon off of ebay, it can be damaged and cheep. but its a good idea!
Posted over 12 years ago
Is you're spelling seriously that bad Thomas? You're gonna get my going like Benson and saddle positioning. ;]
