What'll you be building up instead of this? And it really didn't look that small...
Posted over 12 years ago
It had a sloping top tube which made this 52cm seem even smaller. I am on a reallyyy tight budget and i want to save up on the side for something really nice down the road, so i went and bought a Windsor the Hour. Im going to be switching out all of the components of course, have alot of visions for it already =).

The new parts are lookin' good! I have a couple of suggestions though. First, slam that stem! I wouldn't recommend flipping the stem, unless you want the bike to be really aggressive. Also, I would definitely recommend getting hoods and road brake levers instead of the cross lever, it provides a lot more hand positions, and looks really good. And the Omniums will look really good! And the decals are definitely unique, but I've always thought they looked better when they overlapped with each other, instead of being evenly spaced out. Overall, you've made some really great changes!

Thanks! The only reason I havent made alot of these changes you suggested because this is setup works best for my job as a bike messenger. Once im done working as a messenger I plan to get rid of the freewheel and turned this into a fixed gear, get clipless pedals, brake hoods and other upgrades for long distance rides. This setup enables me to be comfortable yet aggressive in traffic and safe at the same time. I do plan to get risers pretty soon too in the meantime. But i cant wait to get a new job so i can set this up how i really want. And I havent slammed the stem because i plan to get a Alpina Fork, dont feel like spending time or energy cutting this fork. And i plan to get more stickers to cover up the spaces =) And your GTB is awesome.

Thanks! And an Alpina? Niiice! I can't wait to see how this bike turns out.

Thanks! Its looks nothing like this right now lol got to put pics up, I have added Thomson elite stem and setback seatpost plus a selle italia turbo-matic 2 saddle. Slowly swapping out components as I go.

Well I am looking forward to seeing it up to date. Did you go with black parts or silver?
Posted over 12 years ago
I got black, I wanted silver but I found the seatpost and stem on craigslist practically new for $90 all together so I had to snatch them up!

I really dig stage 2. Looks like a fun ride. Take your time and build it right.

dont listen to this guy... it looks good and its unique. keep it up!

Just an opinion understandable but I didnt like the original setup, WAY to much orange and the components were crap. Originally i didnt like the decals but now i think im going to take the tape back off because it stands out as its own and it gives it character. Loving your Pake to! How does it ride? ive always wanted to build one up.

While I do prefer the GT track frames of the 90's, the Gutterball can actually look really nice when done right. I particularly like this one: http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/gt-gutter... and since you bought it as a complete, you can take your time to find good deals on the parts you know you want!

Exactly! That was my thought process when I bought this. When im done with this it will looking nothing like it does now, im going to go with road drops, carbon fork and a low profile wheelset for sure. I like that build as well! I really bought this for the frame and I cant wait to get it done!
