54 cm 1976 Peugeot OU-8

I upgraded the drivetrain on this bike to replace the plastic derailleurs, cottered steel crankset, and steel rims with lighter, better quality parts.

Frame:
Peugeot steel tubing throughout with stamped steel dropouts.

Fork/Headset:
Peugeot steel fork with stamped dropouts and chrome crown and legs, stock steel headset

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Peugeot engraved Solida crankset, French threaded cups

Pedals:
Atom 440 with Cristophe toe clips

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
5-speed Atom freewheel, Solida chainrings, replacement chain

Derailleurs/Shifters:
Simplex Super LJ derailleurs, Simplex Prestige shifters

Handlebars/Stem:
AVA stem, Guid aluminum Handlebars

Saddle/Seatpost:
"Club" leather saddle, Polished aluminum seatpost

Brakes:
Mafac Racer calipers, Mafac levers

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Weinmann AS23X clincher rim, Normandy high flange 36 hole hub with Simplex skewer, Michelin Dynamic 700X28c tire

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Weinmann AS23X clincher rim, Normandy high flange 36 hole hub with Simplex skewer, Michelin Dynamic 700X28c tire

Accessories:
Cloth handlebar tape

I found this bike at a Salvation Army store for $20. It's a close match to the UO-8 I had in high school and was sold at the same bike store I got mine from back then (it still has the bike shop sticker on it).
