Love these frames. That chain tension and stem angle tho...

what about it?

crashoverride

crashoverride says:

Stems got some serious angle considering it's an aggressive frame.. Also the chain looks to tight for me.. Track slack saves gears.

I think if you check out the 28 other builds I've done in the past it's clear I have more than the one stem that's on it now. I thought it went well with the build's flow and geometry as a pursuit bike. And although it's photo'd with the wheel set that's on it last, this wasn't generally the one I ran when commuting. I understand track slack saves gears, I did note to make it have slight slack. However, it's not the first time a chain has fallen off on me. I prefer to be safe than sorry, and I also have more than enough drive trains to replace this one when I wanted to.

Thanks, it even looks better now! I always questioned if it looks better with the drops or the risers & whether or not I should just switch out that godawful stem.

brembilla says:

How supple would you say the fork is? Being aluminum and all. Does it really negate the positives from having a steel frame?

Posted almost 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

The fork is extremely solid. In fact I feel it's so solid that it tends to hurt my wrist from long distance rides but maybe that's just me. The frame is steel so it balances the comfortability out(: but as it is more aerodynamic than any of my other forks I've had. And the rake is 38mm so I prefer that for more pursuit-ness

Posted almost 12 years ago

brembilla

brembilla says:

Oh I see. With that said then, would you prefer a carbon fork with the same rake as opposed to that fork?

Posted almost 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

Tbh, I prefer a carbon fork like the alpina or bianchi fork I had, it's a lot more comfortable but both are light. I was planning to get a funda fork but Iike pursuit geo so I plan on using this one unless I find another with a better rake!

This bike looks pretty rad. I haven't really seen too many actually built up. The s80 fits it very well. I'm seriously considering buying an s80 myself. Do you like it more than the H3?

Posted almost 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

Thanks, h3 is lighter. s80 are heavy but definitely more stiff & aero. I prefer the s80 for looks, but h3 would be a better option. Surprisingly from my use, when I first got the s80 it had more crosswinds than the h3 did. Both are great, s80 seems more durable though

EBAY! that was right after i got crashed & the hed3 smashed. Luckily the frame is fine. dropped it on a bike rack a month or 2 ago, got a fat dent on the side. Normally I never crash or drop my bikes, but I thought it was standing and it slipped from its slot.

It was sold, I loved the bike so much I took pics of it before I completed it, but these were the cheapest parts I could find at the time (excluding the s80) but thanks!

Haha, thanks! I've heard that too, but I have a lot of wheel sets & I thought the s80 looked real nice with my grey mash than it did with this!

roberto_navarroo

roberto_navarroo says:

How tall are you? I'm thinking about getting one but I'm not sure which size to get. iMinusd only offers a 50, 53, or 57 and I'm 5'10 which would you suggest? Obviously not the 50 though.. Lol

Posted about 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

I'd suggest a 53. I hate when bikes stand over is too large for me. Rather have your nuts safe & your knees NOT stretched out. 2cm down isn't that bad, I run 51s sometime & I love the compact geo. you can always make it feel better with extended seat post & stem. Make sure to get matching crankset w/ the matching bb to ensure no touching on the chain stay! Also depends on your inseam, measure & compare geos! If its perfect @ 57 I wouldn't get it, you want a couple centimeters difference since you don't want a seat post that touches the frame :3

Posted about 12 years ago

roberto_navarroo

roberto_navarroo says:

But how tall are you? Lol and what's your inseam length?

Posted about 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

oh sorry, didn't answer that! ~ 5'7 & 1/2. about 5'8. my inseam isn't measured correctly, but i have long legs ~ 60-65. depends also on your torso. IF you go to iminusd, there is a sizing chart for you!

I used to want to build one of these up at one point...cool looking frames, but the alum fork was a deal breaker for me

Posted about 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

Haha what about the stem? I'm looking to get it replaced but it looks okay with risers! & the alum fork is much like a cervelo t1 fork or close to that of its kind -very aero dynamic. I actually really like the fork, BUT it does make the ride less comfortable. The integrated headset makes it so much more easier to switch out!

Any review of the frame? How is it on long rides?

Posted about 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

Actually I'd give it an amazing review! I love it. My favorite frameset, but the chain stay is jacked. Sometimes with my 75s it touchs, minor scratch. I'd advise 110mm + bb or da cranksets. Otherwise, the ride is awesome if you switch the fork. Very aero original but it's aluminum.

Wow awesome bike! Are you sure this frame isnt a GT? triple rear triangle...

Posted about 12 years ago

I bought from the iminusd store new! Gt is an og version of the triple triangle pursuit. I refer to this as an updated model or mimic with Columbus cromor tubing~

nagillum

nagillum says:

how much did it cost you?

Posted about 12 years ago

The parts together if I bought seperately came in $1,730. + $150 on the extra bb17 alum fork.

nagillum

nagillum says:

wow thats alot of money, invested for a track bike...

Posted about 12 years ago

BetahProd

BetahProd says:

If I had built literally new it would go up to 3g's so I'm glad I had friends and others who would help me find parts off of Craiglist & eBay! Fairly new condition when I bought it too. Some other track bikes go well beyond what I paid. Plus this is pretty high quality and rare. One of the only bb17 you'll find in SF.
