I just recently picked up the vigorelli and did you have to add washers to your omnium's?

Really??? I had to add 2 washers to the bb because my cranks where scraping the frame badly.

btw i love your build!!! so simple and classy!

sheepdog84 says:

Thanks! the vig does have quite a nice ride.. on rough surfaces there can be a bit of discomfort on account of the aluminum steerer... It probably rides similar to your GT. imo, its one of the best value alu frames out there.. i cant bring myself to part with it just yet.. if you can, find one gently used and score a deal.

hey thanks! glad the picture inspires you to keep on riding. yeah i'm kind of over the all black thing, but i still dig black and silver/grey- updating it this fall.

Shots like this always motivate me to get out and ride. Looks like I'll be waking up a tad bit earlier tomorrow to put on some miles! This looks like a fine bike for just that. I'm usually not a fan of the "all black" look, but this is rather sleek.

THIS sir, is my favorite vigorelli in black. The wheels look very at home on this framset.

Yeah man,
Sram Omnium / GXP bottom bracket and an FSA Wing Pro is the way to go

sheepdog84 says:

that's looking like the winning combo... now to choose black, or silver omniums (black chainring)... your bb17 is looking good!

Posted almost 12 years ago

Davidd

Davidd says:

With the build that you have, I would go for the black omniums. Murder out your bike! You'll definitely love the feel of the bars (at least I do) and man I've been riding square tapers all my life. Tried out the omniums and I don't think I'll go back for a while. They provide the smoothness that you simply cannot get with square tapers (the weight loss of a hollow bottom bracket is also a plus!). The two bad thing about the omniums is that it isn't compatible with all frames (which isn't a problem in your case) and ball bearing square tapers seem to spin a bit faster. Hope I helped. Looking forward to seeing your bike complete

Sram omnium bro.Nothing else!! also agree with the FSA wing pro

Posted almost 12 years ago

sheepdog84

sheepdog84 says:

for sure. I was thinking silver with the black chainring, if i can find it... then the FSA wing pro, possibly with aero levers...not sure about a front brake yet.. i kind of want one, for obvious safety reasons.

Get some Sugino 75 crankset and bb. For the bars, FSA Wing Pro would be great.

Posted almost 12 years ago

sheepdog84

sheepdog84 says:

those Wing Pros do look really comfy! i'll add them to my list of possibilities. As for the cranks I was thinking silver omniums with a black chainring... the sugino 75s can be a bit pricey, no?

Posted almost 12 years ago

ZaimAzmi

ZaimAzmi says:

Yup, its a lil bit pricey. Omnium is great! If you're on budget, get the Omnium or some used 75's.

Very nice start! To keep it in theme, continue with Miche Primato. Just a suggestion.

sheepdog84

sheepdog84 says:

thanks for the comment! its my first full build up, so im trying to be particular and intentional about the parts. As for the Miche hubs, I got a killer deal on that wheelset, and they just so happened to be miche, go figure!.. i'll have to check out their cranks. I do however like their supertype seatpost.
