Using a road crank for single speed use doesn't make it a single speed crank.. that's the only thing bugging me with this. Otherwise it a really nice looking bike.

Aren't the Campy Super Record 11 Cranks for Road Bikes, & not for a single speed????

hey dude, looks so perfect :)
at first glance like a low / / bicycle!

I love how much scrutiny the bikes receive on this site. What happened to being happy and riding bikes because they are fun as shit regardless of genre. Who gives a fuck where you ride it or how it's built as long as the rider loves it.

While I personally am critical of this fixie, it's not because of the fact that it is one, or that this guy likes riding them. I used to ride a brakeless aluminum dick-speedboat as well. Rather, I take exception with his frivolous and unsafe choice of a road crankset for fixed gear use.

You do make a good point. Your explanation is especially valid due to the fact you used the word 'dick-speedboat'. That actually made my day, hahaha. I see what you are saying, I run a brake on the bikes I run on the street. I guess I just gave up on other's when aesthetics have become worth more than safety.

That crankset doesn't make much sense to me. Why not replace it with a black Omnium?

Judging by your profile, I'm assuming you're affiliated with this "Star Track"? Seems like a strange way to promote your product by presenting this abortion of a track bike.

this is undoubtedly my dream build that i had in my mind for awhile. job well done.

It's definitely a nice bike. My problems with it (which are very uptight of me) is:
The components don't match with each other except the bar/stem, and the road crankset/chainring with a track chain is very.. Off.
LOOKS nice though.

The car frame are assembled in China.so...There may be concerns in terms of specifications

Nice set up. Is running track chain on 11 speed chainring safe? Ouh by the way, every Colossi frame is autographed by Jan Kole
Posted almost 12 years ago
thanks, it is very safe, normal Colossi only has the Decal on Jan Kole's autograph , but Jan Kole signed on every Colossi x Star Track Low Pro frame by himself

16 hours ago, then up to featured.. not a suprise for me, b'coz worth it! NICE.. especially the cranks, i didn't know that campy made a ceramic BB, glad to see it on yours

How is running a track chain on a road chainring working out for you? Hope you don't die!
Posted almost 12 years ago
That crank set and chainring are 11 speed specific, running a track chain on that chainring will cause problems.
Posted almost 12 years ago
The problem lies in the chain/chainring interface. In terms of spacing, the 1/8 Izumi chain is not compatible with the 3/32 chainring on that Record 11 crankset, in sheer terms of spacing. Though it looks like the teeth have been considerably worn down on the chainring. So even while the chain might actually somewhat fit on the teeth, you are still putting stress on the links. Factor in the fact that your main mode of braking is skidding, and you have a really dangerous, irresponsible situation. The chain is liable to break at any time. This problem would not be so bad if you ran a 3/32 track-specific chain and rear cog, but you still have to deal with the fact that those cranks were not designed to handle the stresses of fixed gear use. Pedals stripping or even braking out of the crank arm is a fairly common occurrence unfortunately with the Campy carbon cranks, and this happens just with the stress of standing climbs or sprints. But of course you don't want to hear any of this, and everyone worships a cool fixie merely because it looks the part. But you cannot hide the fact that this set up is a danger to yourself and, more importantly, to others. What's so wrong with track cranks?

uh oh looks like the track bike police are writing you a ticket :-S

Pardon, I think there's been some sort of misunderstanding here. Let me clarify. I am in no way affiliated with the Fixie Police, nor am I invested with the necessary authority to issue tickets on their behalf.
