@moik: seen those in a few other bikes, Dusika and other brands. I wouldn't say it was standard but they did tend to use that in the seventies.
By the way this is a stunning, beautiful bike!

@vp1337: thank you for your comment. You're right, seen them on a Motobecane too... mostly French bikes - this kind disapeared end 70's for all I know. Not sure if they were made from Simplex but only type I remeber whith this shape

Nice! Takes me back to the 70's and my club racing days on a Gueciotti- steel w/Campy Record/sewups/all clamp on elements- bottle cage, cable guides, pump holder- lots of steel! It still only weighed about 20 lbs. I wish I had that bike now! I like your collection!

Thank you sir! It is as you say - with all the parts it is still light and so comfortable to ride! I like what you wrote about the 70's...

Love the honeycomb dropouts! My Interclub shares the same and I believe they are spec d upwards to the top of the line.

Same here :-) ...these drop outs were made by Huret and were used on the top of the line bikes. Your Gitane is awesome btw.! Here you can check some old catalogues in case you don't know this site: http://www.gitaneusa.com/catalogues01.asp
