This build stemmed from my Nagasawa commuter and then spiraled out of control into building an entirely new bike once I saw how nice the frame was. The frame is blacklisted on the keirin track as the rider had filled the frame core with polyurethane foam for a win. The tubing is oversized, super light, and because of the foam, super duper stiff. Rides incredible, the definition of butter on pavement. All parts hand polished down to the spokes!

Is the paint job is original? better question...what the hell camera are you using?

The paint is original! was difficult to get the rainbow flake reflections in the images, but its packed super tight in real life. Shot with a 5D!

I'm in love <3 I'm jealous to you, as you have 3 beautiful "Hime" now. They are gorgeus!

All of your builds are amazing! Each of them how the frame should be built up. Hats off to you man.

wat does filling the frame core do exactly?
Posted over 10 years ago
It basically makes the frame ultra stiff and maintains the lightness of the tubes at the same time. You can put as much torque and you want on the bb and feel almost no flex in the frame.

sounds like an idea for the track, but for a real street bike the foam might act as a moisture trap and fast-track frame structural corrosion...

Beautiful! You never fail to please with your builds! Does this get any street use in Japan? Or track only?
Posted over 10 years ago
Cheers man, I actually ride this in the streets yes haha, the kalavinka is my track-only bike. Soon gonna switch it up to a carbon road for a trip from Osaka to Fukuoka though!

the foam idea doesn't sound too good, but nice bike nonetheless.

i had just never heard of foam filled frames. sounds interesting after all.....

a real beauty..ive had the same frame. it was a mix of reynolds and columbus tubing..this one too?

I'm unsure the tubing on it actually, I'd be interested to know. The oversize downtube is a first for me to ride
