This Textima frame was built in 1988 at Textima research and development centre, Nordstraße, Karl-Marx-Stadt by Hans-Jürgen Aurich. This type of frame was used for 4000m Time Trial and Pursuit as well as 1000m Time Trial races. Textima started to built 24/27 frames in 1983 and with bended seat tube and therefore shorter wheelbase from 1985, which reduces spacing between the team pursuit riders in order to take more advantage of the slipstream. The FES institute introduced the time trial carbon frames at the Olympic Games 1988 in Seoul. The wind channel experiments show that the effort on the FES carbon frames was lower than on the Textima steel bikes, which were still used in the sport clubs for pursuit races but were gradually replaced by the carbon frames from FES.
