Like a lot of people, I rode bikes as a kid. It wasn't until April of last year (2012) that I obtained a bike that I could commute on, an '85 Schwinn World Sport 12 speed (it was given to me as the older couple moving couldn't take it along). Having car tools but no bike tools at the time, I set about completely dismantling the bike, cleaning it, replacing and upgrading components, and putting it back together again. I used to take the bus to work. Now, rain or shine, I bike. It was the first to start the whole bike deal for me. Overall it's been a great experience. A lot of work, but I wouldn't trade it.
