I owned one of these fine machines 40 some years ago.It was rough in appearance and pretty much a basket case.It had been stripped to it's bare completely chromed frame and I sold it to a racing companion. In the early 70's this was one of the first if not The first competition grade Japanese bike to enter the market and quickly earned a place in many an early road race here in the East. I had always hoped a finer example would cross my path and recently Craigslist revealed this bike offered within the junk at a yard sale. The son in law of the original owner was happy just to get rid of the thing. He claimed the bike wasn't ridden since 82 or so and was hung up right after POP had it re-spaced for six speed and added the bar end shifters. A 30 year coating of sappy saw dust protected the finish like new as it hung inside the owners wood shop waiting for me to rescue it.

I remember these from when they were new; one of the first true top of the line bicycles from Japan. You have an excellent example!

Thanks,
I have since replaced the bar ends with the down tube versions of Suntour's power shifters. Less clutter up front and a bit more precise shifting. It gets a lot of attention from the black bike crowd.

Thank You,
In the day ( around these parts anyway) The Finest was an early go to ride if you were serious about going fast. It was the best Fuji had to offer at the time and it's still a damn good ride.
