Current Stage Info:
The "FakeShiki" is an homage to my first real road-worthy roadbike, a salmon pearl fade 87 nishiki sport that I rode in college. The original met its fate by front end collision with an accord turning left in front of me. This will grace marymoor and my slow legs.

These paint jobs that you get done are absolutely gorgeous. Even the pearl pink to white is astonishingly beautiful, and also unique. This thing is beautiful, and that's coming from someone who hates FTPs. lol

awesome FTP, nice build!
but gotta ask you, why i05TR?! IMO it makes the whole bikes looks "thin" :'-(

i really really want an alpina fork but i can't source one, and i didn't know any comparable 30 rake forks that were available at the time. in terms of satisfaction vs cost it's the worst. it's the same as the raleigh rush hour pro fork since 2007, just drilled, and the atc is crazy high.

you can buy an alpina fork from low bicycles. its how i got mine, i just emailed him and he gave me the price
Posted about 12 years ago
you can buy them direcly from dolan bikes... thats where many framemakers get them from i think. but low could be cheaper as he will order many forks and can sell them cheaper than someone ordering just one and paying for shipping + tax!

I have a rush hour pro fork on there now. Richie, you're right. the rush hour pro fork is not drilled. otherwise tho, same frok.

that's a very well done paint job, but oh man i prefer the black knight

this looks so damn sick and evil and fast.love the little red bits on the bike, like the barends, the leader logo, and some red on the tires and frame. awesome.

Haha, I accidentally removed your comment on my bike as I was replying to it. Anyways, I appreciate the kind words. Your Fuji is super sleek, all black looks amazing!

This bike is so sick! Do you race on the velodrome in Redmond much? I've thought about driving down from Bellingham to try riding on the track.
Posted about 13 years ago
I have ridden it on the track once but race season ended before I had it dialed. Which is too bad because it's really only made for a track... Thanks! If you ever make it over, let me know!

looks so much better all black, im considering building one and blacking it out like you haha, how hard was it to cut out the vinyl like that?
Posted about 13 years ago
but then i'd have to use that saddle, and that thing is weak. check out the new photos i'm uploading...

What is the weight on this bad boy?
Posted over 13 years ago
under 18 i think but I haven't checked it yet with the new wheels. it's primarily stiff, I'd assume it's heavier than previous year designs and am pretty sure it's stiffer (judging from the motobecane team).
Posted over 13 years ago
I feel like it would be significantly lighter after dropping those B43's
Posted over 13 years ago
it's likely a half pound lighter or so. open pros are feathery. it feels just as stiff though, and i geared up 17 to 15.

Shit son, where have I been, and what have I been missing!?
When did you get that sex machine!?
Posted over 13 years ago
The new photo looks really smart. Like the look of those i05TR forks too, hmm.

Beautiful bike! Hopefully I build mine soon. Were you able to run a chainring higher than 44t?
Posted over 13 years ago
Are you liking the andels/orgin 8? I heard they are pretty bomb proof actually.
Posted over 13 years ago
the pro track looks nice and is great, but is like 130 or so. the ultim8s are ugly as hell but only 80 bucks, and pretty awesome if you can get over their bigness and weird looks.

prooftheory says:
You sold it!?! Somebody bought it with the nishiki paint!?! Did you just sell the frame or the whole bike and what did you get for it?
Posted over 11 years ago
charlie says:
i sold it to a friend who i've ridden with for years. she's racing track and i let it go for the cost of the frame, fork, and powdercoat. forget the wheels, i'm just glad it will see the track again.
