Picked up this frame from a seller who had it in storage from a former roommate who left it behind. I was looking for a new project and was drawn by the Reynolds 531c construction and Campagnolo components. I was originally planning on putting a full Dura Ace 7700 groupset onto it and finding an Italian frame for the Campy bits. But while looking into Gitane history, I found out that their bikes were supplied to the Renault Elf and Systeme U racing teams from the mid 1980s that ran Campy components. Plus, Laurent Fignon led that team, who was a racer I admired, even as he competed against my cycling hero, Greg Lemond. So I decided to build the bike up using the Campy parts as a homage to Fignon. I wanted to keep the component build Continental, so I added the Mavic Ksyrium Pro wheels—generously donated by my sister along with the new cassette and chain—Selle Italia Boost saddle, and 3T stem. I did keep the seatpost that came with the frame, but I but don't know its brand (I know someone on the Forums will fill me in!). I think the build came together well. I do concede that the yellow accents on the wheels might be too matchy-matchy, and I normally don't go for bling like the gold chain. But I do like how it turned out. There is a bit of a hitch, though. I can't confirm the model or year of the frame. Maybe Pedal Room nation could fill in the gaps!
