Ever since I've seen it on youtube, it's always caught my eye. Beautiful setup. Glad to see you still own it!

You must be so fast

From taking a look at your bikes, I'm assuming that you're being sarcastic.
You're right, this bike is extremely flashy and very over done. It says "look at me, I'm so cool" rather than, "I don't care what I'm riding, as long as I go fast on it, I find no complications."
As of about 1 year ago, I have indicated that I no longer own this bike, so all I can say is that a lot can change in a year and a lot has changed.
I work at a professional Triathlon, road, and mountain cycling shop as a professional mechanic and I've learned a thing or two and have matured my views on cycling.
I was a kid when I ran this bike like this, I don't run it like this anymore because I grew up.
Posted almost 12 years ago
Haha yeah I was just being a troll, my first bike was pretty ridiculous too (in a different kind of way) I'm glad that you made the transition and actually are passionate about cycling. Many people get burnt out on how much money they spend on bikes like this and stop cycling all together!
Posted almost 12 years ago
Hahaha, dude... I've easily spent more than 10000 dollars just on these stupid single speeds! I don't even want to start on geared bikes!!
And yea dude, definitely turned into a life style for me rather than a hobby. You should just look at my internet history... You'd lol.
What kind of riding do you do? Race road I'm assuming?

forever my fave setup and what bike do u ride at the velodrome
Posted over 12 years ago
Hahaha, thanks! I didn't think that it looked too bad either. :]
I'm getting a Low pursuit. That will be my velodrome bike at least for ADT Center (olympic level: 45 degree banking).
I can ride this bike on any other velodrome with less than 22 degree banking.

Ohhh okay... Did you have to take of the cog to put on the disc?
Posted over 12 years ago
hey did you cut a slit on the side of the disc?
Posted over 12 years ago
Yes. It was a little pizza slice so that the disc would 'cone' when I zip tied it to the wheel.
Posted over 12 years ago
You guys need to see what the new owner of this bike turned it into! It's got jackass thread written all over it!
Posted over 12 years ago
Hahaha, yea dude, just bought my frame back from that guy! The IRO is back!!
Posted over 12 years ago
Man youre ive never seen such a nice IRO. Im gonna try to make a fake disk now haha.
Posted about 13 years ago
Just noticed my typo haha and youre welcome. How do you like your hed? Do you think its strong enough for daily street riding? Im considering getting one for my Pista Concept
Posted about 13 years ago
hell yea its strong enough! i got hit my a car when that thing was on my bike = soo untrue, you cant even believe it.
put a couple hundred miles on it after my accident, it held up fine.
Posted about 13 years ago
very nice *borat voice, But i got 2 questions how did you make the disc and does the 650c mess up the geo?
Posted about 13 years ago
duuddeee!!! it makes the geometry BETTER! hahaha, it handles like a high end track bike with the 650c wheel and fork.
and the covers were cut out using the instructions from the "legit bike polo wheel covers" video and i came up with my own method of mounting them onto the wheel.
if you can see the little rectangles that form a circle around the inner part of the wheel, zipties go through those and the cardboard to the other side and the rectangles (starbucks gift cards cut down to size) hold the two pieces onto the rim.
did that make sense?
Posted about 13 years ago
hahaha, no prob dude! and sorry, i accidentally removed your comment because i thought it was the reply button, hhaha, sorry.
Posted about 13 years ago
Did you get a smaller cog? BTW I'm running 51:14 now. I'll probably change for a 15t cog though
Posted about 13 years ago
yea, i did, its one that ive had forever, but ive gotten stronger so its easier than it was when i first tried 54 15.
and 51 14? jeez, how is that? probably pretty gnarly since your gonna switch back. dude, i wish he could mash together.
Posted about 13 years ago
It's actually easier than I thought it would be (still pretty difficult though). I had a 14t cog laying around so one night I tried it out. If you're ever in the Bay Area, then hit me up and we can go riding.

The fake disc is looking really good! I'm guessing it makes the whirring noise, but does it make that great rumbling noise when you go over rough pavement?
Posted about 13 years ago
yep, it sounds like a real disc but not as much, its a quiet disc, basically. and thanks man. :]
Posted about 13 years ago
that's good, because that sound is great. I updated my GTB and added my EL/OS, go check 'em out!
Posted about 13 years ago
I just added it to my bikes. It's my Bianchi EL/OS with a HED. Disc
Posted about 13 years ago
oh, I thought you said what el/os, not whats el/os. The EL/OS is a 90s lugged steel Bianchi road bike with Columbus EL/OS (hence the name) tubing. The EL/OS stands for Extra Leggera Over Size. In other words, it's light steel that becomes oval and large near the bottom bracket

That chainring is huge haha
Link to the macaframa vid? :)
Posted about 13 years ago

Posted about 13 years ago

its at 2:05
Posted about 13 years ago
nice bike. i think i´ve seen it on a short macaframa video?!
Posted about 13 years ago
yea dude, hahaha, that was me. i was just doing my regular 20 mile ride and these guy pulled up next to me and video taped me. hahaha.
Posted about 13 years ago
My back hurts just looking at it. Great bike nonetheless!
Posted about 13 years ago
HAHAHAA!! you think that THIS is bad? take a look at my pursuit bike. hahahaha.
Posted about 13 years ago
Lookin' good! What do you plan to do with this bike? Leave it as is? New components? Maybe a rear HED. 3 or Spin trispoke :D
Posted about 13 years ago
thanks man. :] i think that the only things that im gonna be with this one is get a silver king headset, silver thomson seatpost clamp, and a rear disc, the disc i am in no hurry though. hahaa.
Posted about 13 years ago
I've seen some Zipp and HED. track discs floating around on eBay. And I saw Colin Arlen's janky, jury-rigged Zipp 900 (NOT the Zipp 950!) "track" disc for sale on craigslist. It had a cog that was welded on and a hole that was epoxied closed. what a waste
Posted about 13 years ago
when did you see this? i just searched for it in the oc and sf bay area craigslist and couldnt find it.
and seriously dude, wasted...
Posted about 13 years ago
I'm just south of SF, so I use the SF bay cl. It was like a month ago, so you probably won't see it. I've actually seen it a couple of times. I first saw it a Raleigh Macaframa being parted out, then for sale by itself.
Posted about 13 years ago
How does the fake disc sound like when you ride?
Posted over 13 years ago
the two that ive made sound like how real discs sound, but not as intense. its that "disc" noise, but quieter.
and the black one, for some reason, made this crackling noise, its weird, youd have to hear it.

Oh, the second picture. I sold the bike and then bought it back from the guy I sold it to several months after.
The second picture is how he had it built up. Uploaded it because I found it humorous.
Now that I give it a second thought, I'll be removing that picture.
