This was my first fixed gear, and it's been great to me. It's stiffer and tighter-geometry than my other bikes, which is nice at times.

Most of the frame is covered in industrial Sharpie, which sadly doesn't hold up as well as I'd hoped it would.

Did you do a clear coat or anything over the sharpie? How easily does it come off? Thinking of doing something like this
Posted over 11 years ago
No I didn't. I think the chemicals in a clear coat would damage the Sharpie and make the ink run. So I just left it, and the Sharpie doesn't hold up very well. What does work a lot better are paint pens. On more recent projects I've used Molotow paint markers with much better success.

It was just some stick on letters that I bought somewhere. I lined them up with masking tape to get it straight.

whats your carb of choice?
Posted about 15 years ago
Ooh that's a tough one...probably candy, donuts, baked goods like cakes, or anything loaded with sugar. :-p

OHHH I know this bike. I have seen this on BF. I loved this one.

The sharpie art is so awesome man. You do it yourself?
Posted over 15 years ago
Thanks man, I did do it myself...it took a while but turned out well. :-)

damn, i definitely would've bought this if i'd have seen it earlier. if the new owner wants to sell it, i'll buy for sure.
Posted over 15 years ago
I ended up selling it for $450 with a different saddle, stock chainring, and a Suzue/Mavic wheelset.

nice. if you talk to that guy again, tell him i'll buy it from him for a little more. he can make a profit.

dude i just noticed your rear wheel has a dura ace hub :D
we are running the same brake setup :)
Posted over 15 years ago
Yep, gotta love Dura Ace. I have a Deep V front with the same hub, but it's non machined and wouldn't work so well with my brake. ;-)
Posted over 15 years ago
I don't know if you tried but...I'm using non machined with my brake. For some reason the brake pad wears down SUPER fast...is it just the stock pad or does it have something to do with the fact that its not machined haha
Posted over 15 years ago
My only experience with brakes on a non-machined rim was that it made a horrible squealing noise. I machined the rim and the noise stopped completely.

i like you Frame,In particular, is you hand-painted,so cool!i like it!!!
Posted over 15 years ago
the off-white is a great look. i'm not so into the red components, but the black rear wheel is sharp!

wow, sweet bike! i like the site too, btw. only been on here a day and its way better than velospace.
Posted over 15 years ago
Thanks for the comments man. Glad people are liking the bike and the site. :-)

Sweet bike. Does the front wheel on this one match the one on the other bike of yours? Sharpie art is NICE. That's gotta be tough to do on a frame.
Posted over 15 years ago
Yeah, it does match the other bike...and thanks for the comments...it was tough but I'm happy with the end result.

This site kicks ass! I'm off to do some long distance biking and some getting lost.
Posted over 15 years ago
how do you like the pro? i know a few people with the normal kilo...any major difference?
Posted over 15 years ago
I like it a lot! It's the exact same frame as the regular Kilos, just has different cranks and stock wheels on it...and a brake. The main reason I went with the pro is I wanted the cream color, lol. ;-)

It sucks trying to keep up with that beast on a bmx...but sick website bro, very cool.
Posted over 15 years ago
btw, i'm thinking of running 46/17 myself, what do you think of it? i'm currently using 48/17...
Posted over 15 years ago
I really like it. It's perfect for the hills in Seattle. If I lived somewhere flatter, I'd probably run something with more gear-inches though.
Posted over 15 years ago
wow your bike is sick! anyways, i got electrical tape and taped that bish up :D
