My Cannondale Track, named Crackles, is my new favorite bike. It's pretty light, incredibly stiff, and feels like a rocket on the streets.
Frame:

Fork/Headset:
Kinesis aluminum/carbon fork, Cane Creek S6 headset
Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Dura-Ace FC-7400 crankset, Shimano UN54 bottom bracket

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
Surly 18-tooth cog, Sugino Messenger 46-tooth chainring, KMC K710 chain
Saddle/Seatpost:
Selle Italia Turbo Titanium saddle, Cannondale Competition seatpost
Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Spinergy Stealth 16-spoke wheel, Hutchinson tire (700x23)
Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Velocity Deep V laced to a Paul track hub, Vittoria Zaffiro tire (700x23)

More Info:
The name, Crackles, comes from the shortening of "Cannondale and Track" into "Crack." Crack just didn't sound right as a bike name, so it evolved into Crackles.

Thanks! I actually don't really miss either of the Cannondales too much...they're so stiff that they would always beat up my body after really long rides.

It came with the fork, but I've seen them on eBay from time to time.

Wow! Amazing Cannondale Track. I've stripped and polished a few frames in my day, but this came out beautiful. One of my favorite bikes of all time. Love the fork too.

Nah, the rear one is factory Velocity paint. The front one was painted with a paint pen by the previous owner though!

Sexy.... Thats all I have to say... I wish I still had my cdale!!

Dude did you lacquer it or just leave it polished (maybe just autosol it?)
Posted about 15 years ago
I just left it polished. Up close, it's actually not as polished as I'd like it to be. I plan on fully sanding it down with 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpaper and then polishing the entire thing again, so it's like a mirror. :-)

Those bars are sick
Posted about 15 years ago
Thanks! They're Syntace bars and they're really comfortable, especially with both grips and bar tape.

how would you go about polishing up a frame like that. i have a frame that i will strip down but love that polished effect and dont fancy getting it chromed.
Posted about 15 years ago
Lots and lots of sanding with various grit sandpaper, then polishing with metal polish.
Posted about 15 years ago
Did you do the polishing yourself? That's mad dedication if you did. Looks great!

I actually bought it polished. Though I do plan on wetsanding and polishing it up a bit better sometime when it's nice outside.

I've got an old FC-7400 crank as well and was wondering what length spindle you chose on the bottom bracket?
