1987 Michael Celmins Road

American-made road bike from Santa Barbara, CA. It was made by a small builder who stopped making frames in 1993. I got it as a commuter. I'm planning on restoring the frame as funds come along and when I find somebody who can reproduce the decals. Currently, it has all of the parts the original owner had except the pedals and the handlebars.

  1. Initial
  2. Spiced-up Commuter

Current Stage Info:

I hated the old handlebars on the previous version so I changed out the stem and the handlebars. I like compact handlebars so I got a Soma HWY ONE drop bars. I also did not like the cloth tape I had so I switched to some good old cork-colored cork tape. I also put a handlebar bag, a Cardiff Kilgetty. Its big enough to fit a windbreaker, tubes, tire levers, cable lock, and a mini U-lock.
I also switched out the tires and got some Soma New Express 700x32 with gum sidewall and Terra Cotta tread. I like puncture protection and fatty tires for commuting. This set up should be perfect for my ride to school.
